A halved heart
Is far from broken
Yet must be broken
To be made one.
A halved heart
Is not divided
But bound
By one Faith.
A halved heart
Is the strongest
Because two beats
Are united.
A halved heart,
Though,
Is the easiest to break.

What's All This?
A train wreck on a sunny day
Rain on the day of my wedding
All chances
To make something good
Out of something bad
Nothing has changed
Except for my
Security
That I've relied on for the past...
Has it really only been one month?
It's all so simple
When we're on the 'phone.
Like nothing is different.
Except when I'm alone
In my bed
My face in my pillow
Tears on my breath
Heaving with unspoken sobs
How is it okay?
And how is it not?
Rain on the day of my wedding
All chances
To make something good
Out of something bad
Nothing has changed
Except for my
Security
That I've relied on for the past...
Has it really only been one month?
It's all so simple
When we're on the 'phone.
Like nothing is different.
Except when I'm alone
In my bed
My face in my pillow
Tears on my breath
Heaving with unspoken sobs
How is it okay?
And how is it not?

Pretend Happiness
I need to write a poem,
But I can't write one.
So I think of sea foam
And the streaming sun.
I pretend I'm far away;
I slip between the boards.
On any other day,
A song would touch me with chords,
But today I needed to write
Something to remind me
That one massive, relieving light
Will be my remedy.
Soon.
Until then I'll hold back
The frightfully heavy tears,
And I'll wait for Daniel
To smile away my fears.
But I can't write one.
So I think of sea foam
And the streaming sun.
I pretend I'm far away;
I slip between the boards.
On any other day,
A song would touch me with chords,
But today I needed to write
Something to remind me
That one massive, relieving light
Will be my remedy.
Soon.
Until then I'll hold back
The frightfully heavy tears,
And I'll wait for Daniel
To smile away my fears.
